Surf Life Saving South Australia
Surf Life Saving South Australia (SA) isn’t just about beach patrols. It delivers rescue services, surf sports training, and water safety education to communities, businesses, and government agencies – all to keep South Australians safe in and around the water.
Surf Life Saving SA is a really forward-looking, creative organisation, and in Badges And Medals we found that too.

A custom design for every event!
Surf Life Saving SA hosts several events in South Australia each year. Below are just a few.

Why Badges And Medals?
Kind to the planet
For Surf Life Saving SA, protecting the environment isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s a core pillar of their mission. So when it came time to choose a medal supplier, the decision was clear, said its chief executive officer, Damien Marangon.
“We understand our responsibility to do the right thing,” he said.
“And so to to find an organisation who was also trying to do the right thing with their environmental practices and their sustainability made the choice of partnering with Badges And Medals really easy.”

‘Fantastic’ designs
But sustainability wasn’t the only reason Surf Life Saving SA chose Badges And Medals. Custom design mattered just as much.
“I think there’s too many organisations now, particularly in supply, where they’re looking to produce things that all look the same,” said Marangon.
With Badges And Medals, Surf Life Saving SA had a say in every step of the medal’s design and manufacturing phase, he said.
The result was a truly custom medal, every time.
Surf Life Saving SA’s head of sport, David Visockis, said the design process couldn’t have been easier.
“We gave them the basic logos of the Glenelg Sprint Challenge … and what they produced, it was just a tick and flick. They sent us back the proofs, and we went, ‘They look fantastic! There’s really nothing else we need to do.'”
What do the athletes think?
David Visockis, Head Of Sport
Athletes do really appreciate that little bit of extra effort when it comes to the medals, because you do see a lot of off-the-shelf, cookie-cutter-style medals out there.
Since our partnership with Badges And Medals … the athletes have said, “Oh, wow. This is this is a really cool medal.”
Damien Marangon, Chief Executive Officer
It was even nice to hear [the athletes] talk about how [their medals] looked different, they felt different, and I think they realised that there’s actually some effort that’s gone into them.
The athletes were really stoked.
